Salted Caramel Mocha

My little sister introduced me to Starbuck’s Salted Caramel Mocha over Thanksgiving. It was delicious. And expensive. With the help of Pinterest and my own imagination, I created my own. At home. Free. At least until I run out of supplies.

So here it is:

You’ll need the following: Coffee, milk (I use coconut milk), sea salt, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and hot chocolate mix. The measurements are based on personal preference, and I really don’t measure anymore. Just adjust it as you see fit.

Caramel sauce:

Put 1 cup of brown sugar in a warm pan with 5 tbs butter. Mix until melted. Add a half cup of heavy cream. Stir until mixed. Remove from heat. It will thicken as it sits. The best part is that you will have extra, and it can be stored in the fridge.

The rest:

Brew some coffee. Fill a cup about halfway with coffee. Throw in a generous spoonful (maybe 2) of hot chocolate mix (I use mint flavored mix), a generous spoonful (or 2) of the caramel sauce, as much coconut milk as you like, and a dash of sea salt.

Top with whipped cream, a spoonful of caramel sauce, and a dash of salt.
